Coming Up

The offerings this year will go to Indianapolis Younglives, an organization that introduces teen moms to Jesus Christ, helping them grow in their faith and develop parenting skills and life skills. Social Ministry committee member, Abby Klippel, has been volunteering with Younglives since she was a freshman in high school. She started as a childcare helper while the teen moms participated in mentoring sessions and Bible studies. Now she is a mentor to a teen mom and focuses on building a relationship with one mother and her child. f you’d like to learn more about the organization, you can get in touch with Abby or go to the website:

Serving God with ACTS of love

Beginning the week of Sept. 19 all disciples at Pilgrim were  invited to take part in a congregational wide study of the book of Acts as part of their weekly spiritual disciplines. We will move through the book two chapters at a time, and you may join us any time. You may choose to engage in this faith enriching experience alone, with your family, with a neighbor, or friends. As part of the study we will learn different ways to read, explore, and listen to the Holy Spirit as we delve into God's word. We will provide each household with a bookmark to help them grow in these faith practices. Pick up your first bookmark at church.

Starry Night

Starry night is starting the first week of November! The Lutheran Child and Family Services (LCFS) “Christmas Store” gift drive will be here all month during November. The containers for the gifts will be placed in the narthex, and the familiar STARS will be attached to Christmas trees, also in the narthex. The last Sunday for collection is November 28. The gifts will be delivered the following week to LCFS to stock their Christmas Store.  Please check the stars on the Christmas trees in the Narthex for the wish list of ideas.

LCFS Christmas Store

Consider joining the ‘Pilgrim Team’ volunteering at the LCFS-sponsored Christmas Store this year. Pilgrim has reserved several spots on Tuesday, December 7 (a.m.) when we will be assisting clients as they select their family Christmas gifts. There are many other three-hour shifts available throughout the week of Dec. 6, so please consider this ACTS OF LOVE opportunity. Contact Noel S. for information and signup assistance.

College Care Packages

As in the past, we are collecting candy, microwave popcorn, gum, highlighters, note pads, and $10 gift cards (Starbucks, Chick-Fil-A, Subway, etc.) for our college care packages. Our youth will be working on these care packages in November for our college students. Please drop off donations in the narthex.

COLLEGE PARENTS:  For parents of college young adults, please contact the church office and provide us with their current school address, email and contact number. In order for college students to receive care packages, we need to have their updated addresses by Nov. 17.

Annual Cookie Sale

It is time to prepare for the Annual WELCA Christmas Cookie Sale. The ladies of Pilgrim bake homemade Christmas cookies and sell them to raise funds to support the outreach projects that WELCA prepares for Lutheran World Relief and Global Health Ministries.

This year our cookie sale will look slightly different. We will package the homemade cookies at home and tie them with twisty ties. These packages will then be displayed for purchase in the narthex. No mixing and matching of cookies in bags. You may purchase packages and fill Styrofoam clam shells as in the past. Prices will remain $5, $7 and $10. Nut cookies and no nut cookies should be labeled as such.

The Cookie Sale will be Sunday, December 12 after early and late services. (Don't forget to attend the voter's meeting also).

If you would like to bake cookies for this event, cellophane bags and twisty ties will be available for pickup each Sunday between services from Sunday, Nov. 7 through Sunday, Dec. 5.
